what are some cool foods i can feed my fish?
i have a 180gal with eight different types of plecostomus….i feed lots of zuccini and cucumber as well as tons of alge tabs and every second day i feed a healthy portion of krill,silversides and small shrimp (also eaten by the hystrix and the two motoro stingray and various clownloaches and synos.) i have heard of people feed uncooked potato or corrots and other vegtables…i wonder if apple or melons would be a good idea. any feedback?thankyou.
I wouldn’t suggest apple or melons. Fruits are mostly sugar, and aren’t really like anything that most fish would eat in nature. The reason for feeding vegetables is to mimic the plant and algae matter that certain species would consume. Try live food if the meat foods you’ve been feeding are frozen. It’s a treat for both the fish and you to watch them happily eating live shrimp or worms. Most fish specialty stores will sell some live foods like brine shrimp and blackworms.
